Quick , take my hand . Well , hello darlings , and welcome to Squee . Hi Hi , hello . Squee is a tabletop roleplaying game , or TTRPG , about the emotional world of being in community and we are playtesting for you live . My name is Kitch and I will be your chronicler today . That means I'm in charge of of hurting all of these weirdos , hurting I thought you said hurting as well emotionally
Kitsch (Chronicler)you know , anyways , let's meet the players today . First up we have greg hello I am .
Greg (Repot)I'm greg and i'mairBot 057 , typically shortened to Repot . Repot is a construction bot . Repot has recently fled a city where it caused an accident due to its failure to maintain itself , let's say for now , and Repot is very interested in accessibility , in particular because Repot itself has some difficulties in actually moving around , just because of the lack of maintenance . It can get wherever it wants , but usually pretty slowly , and Repot loves building . It's a construction bot , it just makes sense .
Doug (Trinket)Doug Hi , I'm Doug . I'm going to be playing Trinket . Trinket is a very odd little creature . He's about four and a half feet tall , ish uh , made of a bunch of objects that are held together by the emotional attachment that people had to those objects . He kind of uses that energy to hold himself together and kind of came into existence about two years ago . He's kind of trying to figure out why he came to be , and that's kind of what his journey is all about and dan hi , I'm dan .
Dan (Zipper)I am playing zipper . Zipper is a um , what would be described as a jellyfish girl . She is the local delivery person for the town of tine . So imagine like a girl but make her jellyfish-esque . So she's got like translucent skin . You can see her internal organs through her body because she's translucent . But she also wears roller derby attire because she's squishy and needs to be protected . So she has like roller skates on elbow pads , a helmet , her tentacles just like pour out of her helmet because she's , you know , a jellyfish and , yeah , she's zipping around all the time get it zipper , you get it and last but not least , ray I'm ray and I play dazzle dazzle bright .
Ray (Dazzle Brite)That's b-r-i-T-E . Dazzlebrite is the owner of Supernova , only the best cafe in Tyne , and no one else would say any differently , would they ? Dazzlebr has sparkles surrounding them at all times and the sun always hits them at the exact right angle . Because they are beautiful and they are the best .
Kitsch (Chronicler)So grab a snack and maybe some tissues and come be our neighbor as we find joy in the journey and celebrate our authentic selves , because life is hard but we can have fun in the meantime . Cheese , all right . So we're going to have Ray read our Previously On .
Ray (Dazzle Brite)Previously on Squee . A speedy mail-delivering jellyfish , a rusty mass-manufactured repair bot , a memory-fueled mound of tchotchke and a reluctantly beautiful and beautifully reluctant rodent meet , disband and meet again under the gentle guidance of the owl Dahlia Geraldine . The two animated inorganics become neighbors . One gets brought back to the land of the living by an electric shock from the rollerblading jelly girl , and the shiny squirrel goes through a poor attempt of making friends , if that's what you want to call it .
Ray (Dazzle Brite)All four unlikely party members find themselves at Dahlia's workshop and are asked to go on a quest to retrieve an item from Harold to help out the Mechams , a family of apple farmers who are having a hard time keeping up with business in time . The jittery owl seems a bit on edge . Her daughter , gris , has been keeping to herself , auntie Mecham is overwhelmed with her workload , and one of her nephews is missing , but not long enough for anyone to worry . Other than that , though , it's a perfect day as any for a group of unentrepid soon-to-be adventurers to set off to face a cloud of miasma with their beautiful but not fast horses , cherry and Veronica .
Kitsch (Chronicler)Gorgeous . So you have just left the junkyard , after picking up some spare tires uh , for your wagon , and you are starting to make your way down the road now , oh , sorry oh clarifying question yeah , does our , does our wagon have tires or wheels ? It's super important . That y'all I want to make sure do we have rubber tires ?
Dan (Zipper)Because that'd be hilarious .
Kitsch (Chronicler)Yes , you have rubber tires because you picked them up at the junkyard . It makes the wagon roll more smoothly and also allows us to have a flat tire , which ?
Ray (Dazzle Brite)is super great for a story . Well , reapot said he grabbed two more , or it grabbed yes , so we have two spare tires on the four-wheeled .
Kitsch (Chronicler)We did say that it was four-wheeled covered wagon . So we are taking off down the road and it's another , or it's still the same day , really , isn't it ? We haven't slept , we just have been going ready to get out on the road on this beautiful adventure . That is going to go perfectly smooth and there will be no issues whatsoever , and that's it , that's the adventure . Goodbye everyone , nice , no see you next week . So , yes , so , as the cart takes off down the road , you hear the light flapping or plapping , I think would be the more appropriate term of frog feet running behind the wagon , dazzle . As you turn around , you see groke running after the cart , waving the letter that you wrote them , not saying goodbye in person , and holding a beverage in the other hand . As this is happening , how do you all respond ?
Ray (Dazzle Brite)Someone stop the horses .
Greg (Repot)I believe Repot is probably—I think last episode Repot said that it could drive , so I think Repot maybe pulls on the reins a little bit to slow the cart down to a stop .
Ray (Dazzle Brite)I wait until it gets to a complete stop and prance off of the wagon onto the ground , dusting myself off as I do so , as I assume there's a bit of dirt in the air from the wagon , and I don't approach Groke . I wait for her to approach me , even though she . Yeah what ?
Kitsch (Chronicler)is it now all right ? So plop , plop , plop , plop , plop , plop . Darryl , I've got the beverage for dinner , just like you said . Also , goodbye , I will take care of the shop , I promise .
Ray (Dazzle Brite)Okay . Well , how did you know what zipper wanted ? I believe they said she didn't want anything last time .
Kitsch (Chronicler)Well , I just gave her a classic glass of water . I figured that would be a good option if she hadn't ordered anything .
Ray (Dazzle Brite)Yeah , that is good , Hold up here . Let me take this and I hold it and I say do you mind prestidigitating it ? I believe they like salt water .
Kitsch (Chronicler)And so she like stands back from or holds the glass at arm's length and puts her other hands to her temple and she concentrates really , really hard . As you see , the water start to cloud just ever so slightly . It's like a very , very , very subtle shift , as if no magic has been cast at all . And then she holds the glass of water now salted up to the carriage For you , miss .
Dan (Zipper)Oh , thank you . What is it ?
Kitsch (Chronicler)It is just the finest glass of salt water .
Dan (Zipper)What kind of salt did you use ? This is exquisite by the way . It tastes delicious Sea salt . That would make sense . Table salt doesn't work quite well for a good salted water .
Ray (Dazzle Brite)I only hire the best of the best . Okay .

Dan (Zipper)it was nice to meet you in this one moment and she turns around and back down off the road towards Supernova .
Greg (Repot)I think Repod starts the cart back up again .

Doug (Trinket)A lot of rules it seems like at that place .
Ray (Dazzle Brite)Well , if you want to be the best , you've got to put in the work .
Doug (Trinket)Fair enough . I guess I could take a page out of your book in that sense .
Ray (Dazzle Brite)Yeah , you could probably take more than one .
Doug (Trinket)Well , I'll start taking notes .
Ray (Dazzle Brite)All right Alright .
Kitsch (Chronicler)So it's about this time that you start rolling past Charles' garage . This is just a little bit separated from the junkyard , so you haven't made it very far quite yet and you pick up this tune on the wind just a little faint at first . Sound of the electric guitar .
Greg (Repot)Analyzing New sound detected .
Kitsch (Chronicler)Yeah , it's very pretty and Trinket's going to start humming along with it with the harmonica that he has and just kind of going along with the tune the harmonica that he has and just kind of going along with the tune , and the cart continues to roll down the road , the sound of the guitar fading off in the distance . Trinket jumps off the cart whoa .
Doug (Trinket)I want to go see where that's coming from . I've never heard anything like it . Trinket , being very curious about everything that's new around him , wants to go and see where that is coming from . And he starts going off in that direction .
Dan (Zipper)Do you think they sell cassettes ? Okay , well , I'll come with .
Greg (Repot)Now that everybody has jumped off of the cart , repot brings it to a halt , perhaps a little belatedly , because I don't think Repot is intending to go anywhere without them . I don't know if Repot is . I think Repot might like watch them until they're out of sight . And if they go out of sight then Repot will basically reluctantly start following , because it is kind of difficult to like it's forest . It can make its way through it , but it'll like take a little bit of time . So I think it starts following out like after a short period , after it basically decides it's not going to wait for them to come back . But Reapod is basically bringing up the rear , I guess .
Kitsch (Chronicler)Yeah , it's going to take its time . So , trinket , as you are making your way towards Charles' garage , which is the source of the sound , it does start to get a little bit louder .
Doug (Trinket)I continue to play my harmonica as I approach .
Dan (Zipper)Zipper is probably doing circles around the building at this point as she waits .
Kitsch (Chronicler)So it is a pretty standard garage , not attached to any other building . So it has a big garage door on one side , really high windows , small , that kind of like foggy pane that's just like covered in dust , um , all closed , um , just like a couple of them , maybe three along the top on the right side , if you're facing the garage door and yeah , you hear now what sounds to be a full band . There's an electric guitar , you can hear a bass , a drum . Sounds like somebody's having band practice .
Doug (Trinket)Okay , and you said the garage door is closed . The garage door is closed . Yes , I , I knock on it very gently all right .
Kitsch (Chronicler)So you knock on the door , the metal rattles beneath your hand , but the music continues uninterrupted but the music continues uninterrupted .
Doug (Trinket)You got it , does anyone ? I don't think I can knock loud enough and I worry that I'm gonna interrupt them if I knock too loud .
Ray (Dazzle Brite)So anyone feel okay with interrupting anyone at all I mean they could be playing better , and it's not my place to say that to them . So I think I'm going to go
Greg (Repot)here , I think Repot is slowly trudging out of whatever woods there were . You have a tree attached to you . Yeah , well , I'm carrying it . This could be useful later . I mean , I had to chop off the branch in order to get around it anyways , and I may as well take it with me . So I , and I think , as repot approaches , it sees like a road it could have taken to get here it would have just taken a little bit longer .
Greg (Repot)But I was like it does this kind of like slump with , with the , with the branch that it's holding , and then and then it brings it back back up and comes to join where everybody is just kind of standing around the garage and it says Quarry .
Ray (Dazzle Brite)Reapot Tinker was asking you to knock on the door .
Greg (Repot)Reapot just immediately just like takes this branch and at a speed that's like perhaps a little bit more fast than it would be comfortable . If you were actually knocking on the door , just kind of whams it against the garage door and there's like a . If you were actually knocking on the door , just kind of whams it against the garage door and you're just like a .
Kitsch (Chronicler)So you bash this into the door and it's quite loud from your perspective , but again the music continues uninterrupted .
Doug (Trinket)Let's go Repot . Could you pick me up to the windows ?
Greg (Repot)Repot basically crouches down a little bit and and creates sort of like using , using the , the arms it has . This sort of creates like a little mini ramp , because you have like a whole bunch of different pieces . You have to kind of get up there . I think it actually uses the branch kind of in the middle of it all , so you have like a something just a walkway , just a walkway basically in order to get up to wherever it is you're trying to do .
Doug (Trinket)Perfect , okay . So I kind of scamper up that and I look through the window and I just kind of try and wave and make eye contact with whoever's playing With your glasses . Yes , with my glasses . My eye contact in air quotes .
Dan (Zipper)Zipper will also scramble up and like grasp onto your shoulders . She's pretty light , Ow . She doesn't have a lot of weight , so she's fair .
Kitsch (Chronicler)Yeah , so as you look , through the windows .
Kitsch (Chronicler)You kind of try to wipe away the grime on the glass , but unfortunately most of the grime is on the inside , so it's very , very blurry . You can see a couple figures moving around inside the garage . You get a couple flashes of color , a lot of black and red . There's definitely like a glint from something that keeps like flashing in your eyes , but you can definitely see a blurry shape of a drum kit , somebody smashing away at the cymbals . There's definitely somebody singing on a mic . Their guitar probably looks red , but maybe that's their shirt .
Doug (Trinket)It's all very blurry it's still too hard to see um zipper . You were zipping around , yeah , did you see any other doors or entrances to the building ?
Dan (Zipper)I mean , there's like the front door for like yeah , so there's the garage door and then there is like a side door for like people .
Doug (Trinket)Maybe we try and see if that's unlocked , maybe just casually let ourselves into someone else's property . I don't think I can .
Dan (Zipper)I mean it's like , it's like a store , though . Right , it's like a storefront kind of , or is it a home ?
Doug (Trinket)it's it's like a standalone garage are you asking if it's like a hair shop or if it's just a garage ?
Kitsch (Chronicler)So you would know because you've met Charles Trinket and Repot now . So Charles lives right next to the junkyard , so his house is a little bit away . He has this garage on the property that's detached and there's like a bit of a distance between the two . So like you would have to like walk maybe 100 yards to get to his house , but this is technically his property if you continue on beyond the threshold of the garage doors .
Doug (Trinket)I guess it would be okay if we didn't ask for his permission , since we already know him . But then who's playing in his garage ? I don't think Charles is one to play music .
Greg (Repot)I think Repot is , like Repot's , still here holding the branch , I believe like at the bottom , probably next to the garage door . Can Repot take a look at this garage door and see if there is a way to just open it ?
Kitsch (Chronicler)so it's pretty standard garage
Mystery Music at Charles' Garage
Kitsch (Chronicler)door . It has one of those little silver handles in the middle of the garage door that has the keyhole on it . You normally twist these to unlock the latch mechanism . But as you're fiddling with it it does seem to be locked . It is in the locked position . They would have kind of a mechanical contraption on the inside that would delatch the garage door as an alternative to this turning mechanism .
Kitsch (Chronicler)Gotcha latch the garage door as an alternative to this turning mechanism , gotcha um . And then the side door as well is locked . If anybody goes to check it with a door or a sign on it that says keep out band practice , okay . Well , they said no yeah , let's just go .
Doug (Trinket)I don't know why we're here at all I want to see what's making the fun noise .
Dan (Zipper)Oh , that's probably a guitar .
Doug (Trinket)Okay , but I've never seen a guitar .
Dan (Zipper)Oh well , it's got like a long neck and then a body and then .
Kitsch (Chronicler)Like an ostrich .
Dan (Zipper)Yeah , kinda actually Like if you took the legs away from an ostrich and then it couldn't spread , well , its wings kinda could , could , but did this ? The wings could work , um , so yeah , so like if you stretched out an ostrich and took its legs away and put strings on it , it's kind of like that sounds horrific but it's made out of wood then how is it ?
Doug (Trinket)like an ostrich ?
Dan (Zipper)because shaped like an ostrich .
Greg (Repot)It's got a long neck and a head that's kind of bird shaped actually okay I think , as this explanation is happening , Repot literally just pulls out some cord and string that it has and just stretches it between , basically using the branch , essentially just as a physical demonstration , just affixes some of the strings to the branch and just starts plucking at it as an example .
Doug (Trinket)Okay , gotcha , so it's like a string instrument , yeah .
Greg (Repot)Okay , repot's putting down a sick beat . Now what Exactly ? And I think with another leg it's going to bang on the garage door to make like a beat . Rival band practice .
Doug (Trinket)Start playing the harmonica loud exactly so .
Greg (Repot)One way to get their attention is just play different music out of tempo from them and really mess with them a little bit .
Dan (Zipper)So they have to stop .
Greg (Repot)Honestly , I think repot keeps keeps banging on the . I think as , as part of this devastation , repot just keeps banging on the garage door . Uh , as part of this devastation , repot just keeps banging on the garage door for its own drums .
Dan (Zipper)Well , we shouldn't do that . We don't want to interrupt their band practice .
Ray (Dazzle Brite)Yeah , the sign says Don't Interrupt .
Doug (Trinket)Okay , that's fair . I just was interested . But I guess , if no one else is .
Ray (Dazzle Brite)You asked if it was a string instrument , so you know other string instruments .
Doug (Trinket)Well , yeah , there's violins . They play them at the amphitheater .
Dan (Zipper)Well , violin , but bigger , and you play it like this she's a drummer , as opposed to oh Repod does a killer solo .
Kitsch (Chronicler)Yes , with the string .
Greg (Repot)With the string . It's not exactly a really resonant branch or anything , it's just .
Kitsch (Chronicler)No , it's like the sound of a string strapped across something Maybe Reapaw has a microphone and can artificially amplify it through speakers that are on its body .
Greg (Repot)That's interesting . I think I like that . Reapaw definitely has a microphone right . I think maybe it just does that it simulates its own amp .

Greg (Repot)I think Reapaw chooses to take the road instead of going right through the forest . This time It'll go a little bit further around , but it's so much easier .

Kitsch (Chronicler)Alright , so you leave the garage , this mystery looming in the back of your mind , and make your way back to the wagon .
Doug (Trinket)Not really a mystery . It's a band practice . Who's in the band Trinket wants ?
Dan (Zipper)to know , Charles definitely won . Definitely we all did . I don't know about that .
Doug (Trinket)Last time we saw Charles , he was taking a nap .
Kitsch (Chronicler)And you all load back up into the wagon . The wagon takes off the wheels , turning over the dirt road and you start to make your way again back out of town , the sound of the guitar and the drums fading into the distance .
Greg (Repot)I think Reapot kept the branch with the string on it . Never know . Might be able to repurpose this for later .
Ray (Dazzle Brite)Watch your swings . Keep that away from me .
Greg (Repot)I think , as Reapot drives , it's like experimentally plucking at the new instrument that it's made , I mean trying to keep its eyes on . I mean it can multitask . Of course it's a robot dazzle .
Doug (Trinket)Have you ever played any instruments ?
Ray (Dazzle Brite)have I ever played any instruments I come from a family of musicians . Actually , the brights are all master minds at music . So yes , I have . Then why ?
Doug (Trinket)did you go into coffee ?
Ray (Dazzle Brite)I'm here to be different . I'm not here to be like them . That's fair . They do sound cool though sorry the brights .
Dan (Zipper)Yeah , you know , musicians , that's that sounds fun they're okay okay they don't dazzle as brightly as they do .
Ray (Dazzle Brite)Someone understands me .
Kitsch (Chronicler)And just as you are turning down the road off towards the exit of town , you do notice that in the distance now fairly far away the garage doors do open and you start to see some figures exiting the garage and you get a glimpse of one of them the guitar player , definitely green .
Greg (Repot)I think Repot has a zoom feature on the camera and it just turns around and tries to get a closer look to see if it looks anything like , say , an orchard family .
Kitsch (Chronicler)Yes , so you zoom in , enhancing and as soon as you get them in your field of vision , it does look very similar to Mishka who you met earlier today . It's not Mishka . They are wearing all black kind of ratty clothing . There's like some text splayed across it , but it's really hard to read . It's very faded . There's like splattered bleach across it . You see they're wearing these like dangly earrings , dark eye makeup . Their hair is like spiked up on top of their head black nails . So very aesthetically different than Mishka , but you can definitely notice the similarities .
Ray (Dazzle Brite)Nico is the one that we spoke to right . This is Ray .
Kitsch (Chronicler)So we had a little bit of a flip-flopping issue happening last session . We met Mishka and then we called him Nico , a couple times .
Kitsch (Chronicler)Yes , that is why we are a little turned around they're siblings yeah yeah , so you can safely assume that this is nico , the one that has been missing from his job at the orchard , which , as you're like kind of watching them dissipate and move on with their lives . You see , nico kind of goes off in another direction , away from where you're heading . You're heading out of town and you're actually heading towards the orchard , which is the last stop before you reach the edge of town . So nico isn't heading towards the orchard , no , which is the last stop before you reach the edge of town , so Nico isn't heading towards the orchard .
Kitsch (Chronicler)No , nico is not heading towards the orchard , he's heading off towards the woods , and so he disappears eventually from your field of vision . As your wagon continues on down the road , eventually you see the orchard on your left . You pass supernova along the way , as well as the old mill , the joyful jamboree festival fields .
Dan (Zipper)That's my favorite spot in town . It's fun to dance in . There's a lot of open space .
Doug (Trinket)Oh , Never been . You should probably go .
Dan (Zipper)You should go . It's a great time .
Kitsch (Chronicler)And eventually you also pass the orchard , now exiting the town of Tyne , and you are off on your adventure Tally-ho .
Dan (Zipper)I think people say that sometimes .
Kitsch (Chronicler)Sure .
Doug (Trinket)Trigger makes a note of that phrase because he's never heard it before .
Kitsch (Chronicler)So it's a pretty calm 30 minutes of exiting the town . There's not much outside the town limits . Tyne itself is rather small and the surrounding area is just fields , rolling hills , some scattered farms , some of the farms that are a little bit further out of town , but not too much else .
Greg (Repot)I think Repot is keeping an eye on the road because the whole reason it was in time in the first place was because of a bump on the road and it's trying to make sure to

Dan (Zipper)Yeah , zipper is out of the wagon by this point , just like probably roller skating circles around the cart trinket , sitting up front next to repot , looking at the horses , just like they're so pretty dazzles checking out their nails .

Dan (Zipper)That would be the first stop on this trip . Got my letter to the person on chorus who's ? Not gonna give us the thing have you ever been to chorus zipper , yeah , a couple of times .
Doug (Trinket)That's why , just like I'm just passing by and I'll like deliver things , what's like kind of the thing that they do in that town . I've just never been .
Dan (Zipper)That's an excellent question , DM , or blah , blah blah .

Dan (Zipper)Yeah , what is Korin known for ? Anything in particular .
Kitsch (Chronicler)According to Dahlia , it's known for a cord that they make . There is a place there that makes a cord . No , I mean , it's not really known for anything . It's just another small town .

Dan (Zipper)Yeah , well , in course they have . Half of the town is a manufacturing side which I'm assuming we're going to get . The cord that we need for Dahlia from the other side is mostly restaurants . They're big on food .

I think Repot is probably the most attuned to the actual state of the vehicle and is , like always , listening for different sounds , especially to hear if it's like you know , are we going over a rough patch of road or whatever , like it . Repots been paying attention basically to the sound of the vehicle . I think repot hears this and , and you know , brings the vehicle to a hall and make just you can do proper maintenance on the vehicle . It's important that this thing doesn't fall apart and it goes to check out underneath the vehicle to see if there's something that needs to take care of what happened ?

It takes , I think , a close look at the wheels to see how the wheels maybe are dealing with the stickiness of this road and it is , you know , able to move around . I'm sure it's like strong enough , but it is kind of noticing a drag on it as it tries to kind of maneuver , you know , yeah , and that's all it is .

You can kind of see , as you pull away , there's like those strands of like a sticky residue kind of pulling away and as you inspect the wheels you do notice that there is a little bit of buildup , Just like a residue that is just coating the wheels ever so slightly . Ever so slightly you see a couple of those strands of this sticky substance kind of pulled from the wheel to the ground .
Greg (Repot)I think Repot does like a it does sort of . It starts trying to run an analysis on what kind of substance this is and then , most specifically , it's trying to figure out is this like , where does this end on the road ? Like , is this just like a puddle , or is this something that we're going to have to deal with for like a good amount of time ? You know , if we just can't , we can't , we just go forward and have it stop or is there more of it kind of ahead of us that we're gonna have to deal with yeah .
Kitsch (Chronicler)So as you're all sitting here in this moment , you just kind of flow over you Like your heart starts to kind of pound a little harder . You feel just like a slight stimulation run up your body , kind of gives you almost a shake , but not quite Just kind of like yeah , almost like the chills run over you , but not quite the chills , more of a shake I think repot , who's not really used to having say you know , emotional things happen to it , still feels this shake in a way , that kind of surprises .

It's almost as if the stickiness is like coming out of the pores of the ground itself , like everything is just kind of like giving off this sticky residue , like sweating it .

Kitsch (Chronicler)yeah , so miasma is pretty normal in this world . It usually presents itself in pretty mundane ways and usually dissipates pretty quickly . But y'all would know that , like miasma can get bad , especially when it's centered around like really big events , like there have been like giant losses within the region where a leader has died and that has put an entire miasmic cloud over the town . So pretty normal . You understand what miasma is .
Greg (Repot)There's nothing weird about it , but just the fact that it's here , Is there a way for us to determine a direction , or is it ? Can Reapot figure out where it started ? Just to kind of triangulate , like a place that we , it would maybe be centered around like . Does it get worse or better based on where I go ?
Kitsch (Chronicler)so it's a very broad thing that you are currently in or entering , as you're like a zipper is going out in multiple directions as you're kind of investigating . First Miasma Challenge: The Sticky Road

They're now kind of huffing , you can hear their breath is quite labored as they lift their hooves and they snap back down to the ground . Down to the ground , the pace of the wagon slows and eventually it comes to a stall .

You can see the torso come down a little bit in a sort of simulation of a sigh , and then it stretches out a hand and offers basically a way you could basically ride this . Basically you can ride the robot , but fair warning and I don't think Repot is going to tell you this , but this is not going to be a smooth ride .
Greg (Repot)Yeah , I know this is going to be incredibly unpleasant in particular because it's like when Reapot moves , it's not like a spider kind of casually walking across . It has to bang on the limbs in order to get them into the right position and then it'll like switch halfway through , like going in one direction as one of its limbs sort of locks up and it kind of so you're gonna . It's a little bit more like rodeo than really being carried um , so I I think repot maybe doesn't even tell you this , just because this is something you're gonna have to learn , but that's , that's how repot moves . So if you want to ride Repot , Repot , if you don't hold on you will get dumped into the sticky stuff and it'll be even less pleasant than if you were to just walk .

So the character compass is a map , it's like a little system for how we handle dysregulation in this game , and so it goes from chaos , which is the bottom of the compass , up through the sun and the moon , into eclipse , which is balanced . So we're going to play around with this , we're going to playtest this a little bit and and feel it out , but I'm gonna want everybody to place their ring on chaos . We're chaotic , so we are entering the thick of it . We are entering the miasma , and the miasma is plunging us into chaos . It is forcing us to experience the emotion of the miasma itself .

One you will only have access to your aspects that are related to your form , your characteristics and your archetype . You do not have access to your aspects related to your vibes , inner or outer . I have access to your compulsions , so those can be used to make you all roll with disadvantage if they pertain to the story I understand now .

So the goal of the compass is to eventually attempt to get yourself out of chaos into either your sun or your moon Moon being your inner shadow self , sun being your outer light self , if you want to think about those two concepts . So in order to move through up into one of those , you either have to spend harmony or rapport , as shown on the compass , and then you have to incorporate one of your characteristic aspects into roleplay during that . Resolve is what it is called . So if you ever want to take an action that resolves , you will declare it , you will tell me how you incorporate your characteristic , and it's either going to be your mask or it's going to be your what is the other option ?
Kitsch (Chronicler)Habit . So if you declare your habit and you spend your harmony , you can move into moon on a success , and if you declare your mask and spend rapport on a success , you will move into sun . So anytime you're , you're taking an action and you would like to declare that you would like to resolve . That is how that would play out . So we're going to playtest this as like an environmental thing . We're kind of just for full transparency on the fence about whether or not this compass should come into play for environmental miasma . We know it's going to be coming in to play for the affects themselves , but we're toying with this idea for the environmental . So that's how we're gonna do it today . We're gonna run with that play test , see how it feels and then move on from to walk down the sticky , sticky road and it is a trudge . You are feeling very , almost agitated , your heart rate is increased , your breath has shortened and you feel this wave of fear start to wash over you .

Greg (Repot)I think Repot is having a little well , especially because Repot is carrying another , like it's under kind of a load , especially if you say that there's fear that comes over . I think Repot is in particular , struggling to like find secure footing in general , just because , like everything is sticky , it's not really able to have like the full freedom of movement in its limbs , which aren't always great at the best of times , and so , like like it will take a step and it'll try and pull the the leg that it needs to pull to move to another place and it'll just like , like it it especially because of , you know , not always having full range of motion it it kind of struggles , it's it's moving . I mean like yeah , it's , it's been moving slowly , but it's moving a lot slower now . But also it's it's having a tough time figuring out where to put its feet down in such a way where it won't just kind of get completely buried in sludge , right , especially if the sludge has been getting worse and worse and worse .
Greg (Repot)In my head I imagine that it's getting deeper right , like the places where it is safe , even two-step , are getting fewer and further between , and I think RuPaul's definitely struggling with like trying to find a place to even put its feet down in a way where it's like , well , when it has to pick it back up , it will even be able to , because right now it's having a hard time . Like it it is . It's already gotten stuck like three times like trying to maybe , like I think it would like point at the leg and ask dazzle bright , to like yank on it a little bit , like just to try and help it get free . In the interest of you know , if I'm , if you're , if I'm going to be carrying you , I will need your help actually moving around the environment .

So you are going to take one point of damage to the associated attribute or skill , and that's how these will run . So , since you all are using your body in order to overcome this obstacle , that is the point of damage that you are going to take . Now , dazzle is being carried , so I'm going to allowazzle to not have to do this roll .

Greg (Repot)I think what happens is I think the obvious happens is that all the sludge is getting into the joints of Repot's limbs . I think that's just an expected thing of now that I'm not on the cart anymore . I actually have to have weight on , like the limbs just simply sink deeper into the ground and so a lot of that sticky stuff I could use some lubricant . Basically there's stuff that even the stuff that , even the stuff that I'm used to not properly moving is like almost like rusted shut in some places and like I'm having to like basically Not use certain limbs anymore just because I can't .
Greg (Repot)They don't bend and so repot is that's had . That's the damage that has happened to repots body .
Dan (Zipper)It's just kind of clogged up with the sticky stuff and does that mean that we move our little paper clips down ? One yes , yep .
Kitsch (Chronicler)So this is why you want to track your starting attributes and abilities , because you'll only ever be able to heal up to your starter , but you'll take damage , and so what this encompasses is kind of your overall health and exhaustion , and that is for all attributes and abilities . So you can become physically exhausted , intellectually , personally or socially , and then when it comes to the emotional attributes of heart , voice and mind , those can become depleted as well . If you ever reach zero , you gain a status and you can no longer use that ability or attribute until you heal or recover . So important to keep in mind .
Kitsch (Chronicler)All of this is pulled together as like a holistic measure of your ability to continue doing things with that thing you know . So , yeah , everybody moved down , and so it will . It will reduce your modifier and bring you closer to that status . All right , so that was challenge number one stickiness , sticky , sticky . And as you all continue on down the road , you start to notice that it becomes slightly easier to walk again , and , and as you continue further , it becomes more so and more so and more so , until eventually the road feels again normal .

And I think it starts fashioning maybe some kind of like sort of like stilts basically that can kind of be attached to the bottom of your shoes to make it basically so you just like rise above all the sludge in a way that makes it perhaps a little bit easier for you to get around .

Kitsch (Chronicler)Fine . So here is where I would like to introduce the camp mechanics . So camp is basically our short rest or a recovery period , and anytime you're not in the middle of a challenge you can camp . If you are in a challenge , there is always the ability to run away and go to camp and go to camp , and this will happen somewhat automatically as you reach camp . But then you are also given some options . So camp is your time to recover your attributes and abilities . You can role play , have conversations here as much as you would like . You could even attempt to heal each other .
Kitsch (Chronicler)If there are certain ailments that you are struggling with that aren't fully recovered through the base recovery mechanics , the world is really your oyster , but this is your main way to recover lost points of things that happened during the challenges . So if you've spent rapport and you've spent harmony , you can roleplay scenes in order to get those back , and then also you can recover your attributes and abilities . And the way recovery works . It is automatically two points of abilities and two points of attributes . Anything beyond that will require additional roles . That's kind of where healing comes into play and healing is a risk like . You can attempt and fail at healing and it will work the same way as any other action in this game where there's sacrifice and failure , and which will deplete points as well .

So you start , like surveying the area and you , you notice that there's like , because we talked about that boulder earlier , so maybe there's also a tree next to the boulder , a fallen limb has has just like been laying in the grass . There's like some sections where , like it seems like it's more of a pathway and you can like start to slowly make your way around . The horses are kind of like kept as close to those land areas as possible and you start to make your way slowly across the swamp . And then there's one of the attempts to place the log down . Seems perfectly fine , you place the log it seems stable enough and then you start to put your weight on it and you start to realize that like it's pressing down a little bit more than you would like and y'all continue to go down this log until splash , one end of the log just splashes into the water . There's a drop off there . Whatever land zipper had found was more so just a pile of detritus floating and collecting in the water . That felt stable from the outside but collapsed under your weight .
Greg (Repot)And so with that who's who's kind of leading the effort I mean I would say repot probably okay to make sure that it actually is safe . I think repot is used to going first for these kinds of things . Anyways , just to like make sure that everything is set up properly , all right so repot as this , the other end of the log collapses into the water .

Greg (Repot)There's a part in that . That door in particular takes a little bit of effort to open and there are like sharp edges on it . And Reapod doesn't care about sharp edges . It's a robot , everything is made of metal and it's usually the only one opening parts of itself , so it hasn't really kind of bothered to fix that too much , I would say , and normally it requires like a couple of whacks . It's like it's stuck , you know , like you really have to pull on it , and so I think , yeah , as zipper tries to get it open it , definitely yeah , that makes a lot of sense , I think all right .

Greg (Repot)well , I think , uh , now that the compartment is actually open , it grabs onto one end of it and I think it just hands it to zipper , I would imagine . So the zipper can kind of get that rope , I don't know , how far away this . I don't know if I could throw it , but I think it's probably better if Zipper can just hand it to Deliver .

Greg (Repot)The play is that that repot tries to get to stable ground , like itself basically , and then , once it has gotten to a suitable location , it can then try and widen the path for those behind it there you go is probably how it's going to actually end up working , is repots going to try and and I think Repod is maybe very scientific and methodical about this , as it tries to , like you know , every single step that it takes . It's really especially after it learned from , say , the log falling and it falling in . I think it maybe takes even more care than it is maybe deserved per se , but it is maybe deserved per se , but it is really testing every single step and making sure that it has the ability to get across . I think , in particular , it's thinking about quicksand , because the water isn't that deep . In theory , we could lead the horses through some of it if we knew for certain , for certain , for certain , that they weren't going to sink .
Greg (Repot)I think , to some extent , it's putting weight onto it .
Greg (Repot)It's waiting five seconds and then putting like it's putting weight onto it , it's waiting like five seconds and then putting a little bit more weight onto it , waiting five seconds to see if it starts sinking . And I mean it has its own set of flags , I think , and it , I think , begins to , to , to do some of that kind of navigation itself as it as it as it goes , as it as it uses the rackets , basically , so that even if it does detect its sinking it can still withdraw its leg back , basically . So it's not that like the appendages are per se , like it gets to places that other people without the rackets can't get to , it's more that it uses them as a way to like rescue itself and it like several times I think Reapot puts a limb in and starts tilting dangerously but because it has the rackets on the other limbs it's able to pull that limb back out and kind of and fix itself . So it's basically a good tool for just kind of testing out which places are safe and which ones aren't cool .

Dan (Zipper)But you see her , and this is back in her more jellyfishy form . So remember how her legs aren't really legs , they're just tentacles that she jumps into shoes . You see her walking on all of her tentacles when she originally came out of the water and you see a memory of her seeing a roller derby game and feeling really excited about it and then immediately going to buy roller derby gear for herself . That's really cute .

We also have like kind of we actually haven't touched on the heart , voice and mind too much , but those can be incorporated as well into role play and then you can use those .

So you know at this point that you're probably going to be arriving early evening in the town of Corus , and so the sun is not quite on the horizon . We're in the depths of summer , so the sunset's pretty late , but you are starting to notice that it's getting lower in the sky . We're well past the midday sun , and you start to hear the sound of crickets building as you're starting to dip into the evening .

Kitsch (Chronicler)That does sound nice , though , and as you're rounding one of the particularly tall hills and the rolling hills , you start to notice a fog creeping down from the top of the hill to your right , just swirling mist , kind of slowly sinking down into the valley within which you are traveling .

Greg (Repot)So a massive shining group of strangers is going down the road into this fog yes .
Kitsch (Chronicler)And as you step into the precipice of this wall of fog that has built alongside the road again , you start to feel that wave of fear wash over you . It's thick and oppressive . There's a kind of tingle in the back of your throat and it starts to just feel heavy .
Dan (Zipper)So this is truly my asthma , all right .
Ray (Dazzle Brite)You had to do it at least once . You mean twice .
Dan (Zipper)It's true , a tickle at the back of your throat , but yes , it's a pressure that that you can feel all around you .
Kitsch (Chronicler)It's almost like it's pressing down on you as you make your way deeper into this fog , this glowing party maybe the light is like reflecting off of the fog yeah , I was gonna say does the light ?
Doug (Trinket)does the light help us ?
Greg (Repot)We've turned on our brights and it's actually hurting us a little bit .
Kitsch (Chronicler)Yeah , I mean so with fog . We've all been there where some light is good , but the brights , yeah , that just reflects back into your eyes and you're like ah , so yeah , you're probably fine because it's like a flashlight and some robot headlights .
Dan (Zipper)But if I dissipate the light with my body , does that help us see you diffuse ?
Greg (Repot)the light probably actually I'm more of a glow yeah , I think repot also is maybe relying more on its other sensors than the the camera input at this , but especially when the visibility gets low , I think repot is is like turning up the gain on the microphone and like doing some more like scanning , like radar and stuff like that that it's relying on a little bit more , I think , as it as it as it makes its way through do you hear anything ?
Greg (Repot)do I hear anything other than us kind of walking and going over the road , which might be a little bumpy ? Is there anybody else ? Or what do I hear ?
Kitsch (Chronicler)yeah , it's pretty quiet . There's the sound of the crickets that are starting to chirp in the brush alongside the road . You hear the sound of your footsteps on the dirt , a path before you . There is this like kind of ringing in your ears , almost like a tinnitus situation Very faint , though Not overpowering , but no , there doesn't seem to be like anybody else in the area or any other , like critters or anything , Just a fog that is getting progressively thicker and thicker .
Doug (Trinket)Well , if I had to breathe , this might be a problem .
Dan (Zipper)Oh , the same , I mean we thought that's what you do .
Kitsch (Chronicler)Everyone looks around confused . The narrator is confused . No , I do have to breathe .
Dan (Zipper)That's not fair , but probably it's not as oppressive as if I had lungs , I mean you not drink , but you do drink water .
Doug (Trinket)You breathe in water . Yeah , that's true , it's sort of like a filter breathing .

Kitsch (Chronicler)So , yeah , you're feeling this pressure . The fog is getting thicker , the thog it's thick thog . The fog is getting thicker , the thog it's thick , thog Thog . So the fog is getting thicker and thicker and thicker and your vision is getting worse and worse and worse , until the point where you can only see maybe an arm's length out in front of you , or appendage length for some of you Out in front of you . It's still fairly easy to stay on the path . It's a road . You can tell when the edge of the road happens . It turns to grass , and so you can continue on in the same direction . But it is starting to get a little weird , weird . How A little weird Weird how .
Kitsch (Chronicler)Well , it's a very thick fog that happened quite quickly and seems to be very localized . You hadn't noticed any other fog on the horizon you had previously been able to see chorus and it's definitely miasmic in nature . You're starting to feel your heart racing . You're feeling that pressure placed on you from the fog and that wave of the jitters is starting to hit you .
Greg (Repot)But we're still able to walk along the road . Yeah , you're still able to move freely as well just keep going .
Dan (Zipper)Yeah , I don't like this one push through does anyone need a ? Hug or to hold hands . Yikes , dude , I'm already attached to your . I'm already attached you're holding my hand .

Kitsch (Chronicler)wonder ? No , like you're at the point where the fog is so thick , you can only see at your appendage length . So you look to either side of you and you see fog . The wall goes off into both sides . Yeah , to either side of you and you see fog . The wall goes off into both sides . If you would like to just trail along it , you can continue on towards the edge of the road .
Greg (Repot)I think Reapod does want to do that Also . Reapod , I would say , is now it's still relying on more of like a radar sonar sort of kind of sensor thing . I think it can see a little bit further than everybody else can . I think Reapot is going to try going off the road a little bit just to see if it can find the end of this wall or if it just keeps going forever All right , so Reapot left or right , right .
Ray (Dazzle Brite)All right , rust bucket , it might be a good idea to leave some blips so that we can hear where you are , just in case no one gets lost .
Greg (Repot)Oh , like , oh , like it's on . So we're probably just regularly saying just a little boop , yeah , okay . Yeah , so you can hear how far away it is .

And so you start feeling along the wall . You're walking off towards the right side of the road and you do make it to the edge of the road where you feel grass beneath your appendages and just beyond the edge of the road you think you see to the left a bit of a shadow of an opening Just far enough out of sight where you can't make it out clearly . But you do think the wall at least is broken there if it doesn't end .
Greg (Repot)I think Reepa , in addition to the boops , says potential path identified , just as it . I feel like it's slowly getting out of range of where they might hear . So , just in case , it's just checking in with them and just being like this is what I'm doing and then I think it keeps trying to take It'll get off the road and try and get towards this potential opening all right .
Kitsch (Chronicler)So you make your way and it becomes a little clearer and clearer , and it is indeed an opening in the wall where you can now see the wall continues further beyond , but there is a clear opening .
Greg (Repot)Can I peek through it Like what's on the other side ? Is it just more of the road ?
Kitsch (Chronicler)Yeah , so you step out into the opening of the wall as a bright light hits you directly from where you are looking , directly from where you are looking . So you are blinded by this light as a siren goes off . And that's where we're going to end this session .
